Hyundai Santa Fe Maintenance Schedule
This guide lists the service intervals Hyundai gives for the gas Santa Fe with the Smartstream G2.5 T-GDi engine, from the scheduled maintenance chapter of the 2027 Santa Fe owner's manual, read November 3, 2026. Intervals are by miles or months, whichever comes first. The Santa Fe Hybrid and other model years are not covered here and can differ, so check the manual for your vehicle.
What is the Hyundai Santa Fe maintenance schedule?
The 2027 Santa Fe owner's manual lists replacing the engine oil and filter every 8,000 miles (13,000 km) or 12 months, rotating the tires and adding fuel additive on the same interval, replacing the cabin air filter every 16,000 miles or 24 months, the air cleaner filter every 24,000 miles or 36 months, the spark plugs every 48,000 miles and the brake fluid every 48,000 miles or 48 months. Severe use, including very cold weather and areas that use road salt, shortens the oil interval to 5,000 miles or 6 months.

From the normal maintenance schedule in the 2027 Santa Fe owner's manual, read November 3, 2026. The chart runs to 104,000 miles (156 months).
Hyundai says the drive belt should be replaced when cracks occur or tension is reduced excessively, and that the transmission fluid, transfer case oil and rear differential oil should be changed anytime they have been submerged in water. The fuel filter is considered maintenance free, but Hyundai says to replace it immediately if there is fuel flow restriction, surging, loss of power or hard starting.
Severe usage schedule
The 2027 Santa Fe manual says to follow its severe usage schedule if any of its conditions apply:
| Item | Severe usage interval |
|---|---|
| Engine oil and engine oil filter | Replace every 5,000 mi (8,000 km) or 6 months |
| Automatic transmission fluid | Replace every 60,000 mi (100,000 km) |
| Transfer case oil and rear differential oil (4WD) | Replace every 72,000 mi (120,000 km) |
| Air cleaner filter, spark plugs, cabin air filter | Replace more frequently |
| Steering gear, suspension bolts, brakes, parking brake, driveshaft, propeller shaft (4WD) | Inspect more frequently |
From the maintenance under severe usage and low mileage conditions table of the 2027 Santa Fe owner's manual, read November 3, 2026. Each item applies only under the driving conditions the manual lists for it.
Severe conditions in the manual: repeated short trips of less than 5 mi (8 km) in normal temperatures or less than 10 mi (16 km) in freezing temperatures; extensive idling or low-speed driving for long distances; rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, graveled or salt-spread roads; areas using salt or other corrosive materials, or very cold weather; heavy dust; heavy traffic; uphill, downhill or mountain roads; towing, camping or loads on the roof; patrol car, taxi or other commercial use; frequent high speeds or rapid acceleration and deceleration; frequent stop-and-go driving; and engine oil that is not recommended. Hyundai also says to use the severe schedule after more than 10 years or 100,000 mi.
Owner checks between services
The 2027 Santa Fe manual also lists checks you can do yourself. When you stop for fuel, check the windshield washer fluid level and look for low or under-inflated tires. At least monthly, check the coolant level in the reservoir, all exterior lights, the tire pressures including the spare, and for loose wheel nuts.
Hyundai says the Santa Fe may have an Oil Life Management System that shows a remaining oil life alert on the cluster before the normal interval if driving wears the oil faster. It works with the recommended oil, and you reset it from the infotainment system (Setup > Vehicle > Convenience > Oil Change Reminder > RESET) every time the oil is changed.
