Hyundai Kona Tire Pressure Guide
On the Kona, the right tire pressure depends on the tire size. This guide lists the recommended cold pressure for each 2027 Kona tire size, shows which tire each trim uses, and explains how to check pressure, adjust for cold weather and read the tire pressure monitor. It is based on the 2027 Kona owner's manual and hyundaiusa.com, read November 3, 2026. Other model years and the Kona Electric can differ.
What is the tire pressure for a Hyundai Kona?
The 2027 Kona owner's manual lists 36 psi (250 kPa) cold for the 215/60R17 tire on the SE, and 33 psi (230 kPa) cold for the 215/55R18 tire on the SEL Sport and the 235/45R19 tire on the SEL Premium and Limited, front and rear. The compact spare, if equipped, takes 60 psi (420 kPa). The tire label on the driver's side center pillar shows the pressure for your Kona.
2027 Kona tire pressure by tire size
| Tire size | Wheel size | Cold pressure, front and rear |
|---|---|---|
| 215/60R17 | 7.0J X 17 | 36 psi (250 kPa) |
| 215/55R18 | 7.0J X 18 | 33 psi (230 kPa) |
| 235/45R19 | 7.5J X 19 | 33 psi (230 kPa) |
| Compact spare T145/90D16 (if equipped) | 4.0T X 16 | 60 psi (420 kPa) |
From the Tires And Wheels table in chapter 2 of the 2027 Kona owner's manual, read November 3, 2026. The manual lists the same pressure at normal load and at maximum load. It lists wheel nut torque of 79-94 lbf·ft (11-13 kgf·m, 107-127 N·m).
All tire sizes and pressures for your Kona are also on the label on the driver's side center pillar.
Which tire your 2027 Kona has
| 2027 Kona trim | Wheels and tires | Cold pressure for that tire |
|---|---|---|
| SE | 17-inch alloy, 215/60R17 | 36 psi (250 kPa) |
| SEL Sport | 18-inch black finished alloy, 215/55R18 | 33 psi (230 kPa) |
| SEL Premium | 19-inch alloy, 235/45R19 | 33 psi (230 kPa) |
| Limited | 19-inch alloy, 235/45R19 | 33 psi (230 kPa) |
Wheels and tires are from the Alloy wheels and Tires rows of the 2027 Kona features and specs on hyundaiusa.com, read November 3, 2026; pressures are matched by tire size from the owner's manual table above. Every trim lists a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with individual tire indicator as standard. The Kona Electric is not covered here.

How to check Kona tire pressure
The 2027 Kona manual says to check every tire, including the spare, at least once a month, with a good quality tire pressure gauge, when the tires are cold. You cannot tell if a tire is properly inflated just by looking at it.
- Let the tires cool. The manual defines cold tires as a vehicle that has not been driven for at least three hours, or has been driven less than 1 mile (1.6 km).
- Remove the valve cap and press the gauge firmly onto the valve stem to read the pressure.
- Compare the reading with the pressure on the tire label on the driver's side center pillar. If it is low, add air until it reaches the recommended pressure.
- If you overfill, release air by pushing on the metal stem in the center of the valve, then recheck with the gauge.
- Put the valve caps back on. Without the cap, dirt or moisture can get into the valve core and cause air leakage.
Warm tires normally read 4 to 6 psi (28 to 41 kPa) higher than the recommended cold pressure. The manual says not to release air from warm tires to adjust the pressure, because the tires would then be under-inflated.
Cold weather and snow tires
| Situation | Per the 2027 Kona manual |
|---|---|
| Colder temperatures expected soon | It is permissible to add 3 psi (20 kPa) to the standard tire pressure specification. |
| Temperature drops | Tires typically lose 1 psi (7 kPa) for every 12 °F (7 °C) temperature drop. Recheck pressures when big temperature swings are expected. |
| Low tire pressure light on a cold morning | The light may come on in cold weather if the pressure was set in warm weather. That does not mean the TPMS is malfunctioning; check and adjust the pressure to the recommended level. |
| Snow tires | Snow tires should carry 4 psi (28 kPa) more than the pressure recommended for the standard tires on the tire label, or up to the maximum pressure on the tire sidewall, whichever is less. Do not drive faster than 75 mph (120 km/h) on snow tires. |
| Maximum pressure | Do not exceed the maximum inflation pressure shown on the tire sidewall. |
From the Tires And Wheels, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Maintenance sections of the 2027 Kona owner's manual, read November 3, 2026.
Kona tire pressure monitor (TPMS)
The 2027 Kona manual says you can check tire pressure in the Utility view mode on the cluster. The pressures appear after a few minutes of driving; if they do not appear while the vehicle is stopped, the message "Drive to display" appears. The displayed values may differ from those measured with a tire gauge.
To change the pressure unit, the manual gives this infotainment path: Setup > General > Unit > Tire Pressure Unit > psi/kPa/bar.
When the low tire pressure warning comes on, the manual says to reduce speed, avoid hard cornering, expect longer stopping distances, stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the pressure on the label on the driver's side center pillar. The TPMS is not a substitute for proper tire maintenance. For other cluster lights, see our Hyundai warning lights guide.

Hyundai Kona tire pressure questions
What should the tire pressure be on a Hyundai Kona?
The 2027 Kona owner's manual lists 36 psi (250 kPa) cold for the 215/60R17 tire and 33 psi (230 kPa) cold for the 215/55R18 and 235/45R19 tires, front and rear, at normal and maximum load. Always confirm with the tire label on the driver's side center pillar.
Why does the Kona SE use a different pressure?
The pressure follows the tire size. On hyundaiusa.com the 2027 Kona SE has 215/60R17 tires, which the manual sets at 36 psi (250 kPa). The SEL Sport (215/55R18) and the SEL Premium and Limited (235/45R19) use tire sizes the manual sets at 33 psi (230 kPa).
Is the front and rear tire pressure the same on a Kona?
Yes. For each full-size tire, the 2027 Kona manual lists one pressure for the front and rear, at normal and at maximum load.
What pressure does the Kona compact spare need?
The 2027 Kona manual says the compact spare tire (T145/90D16, if equipped) should be inflated to 60 psi (420 kPa).
Should I add air to my Kona tires in winter?
The 2027 Kona manual says it is permissible to add 3 psi (20 kPa) to the standard specification if colder temperatures are expected soon, and that tires typically lose 1 psi (7 kPa) for every 12 °F (7 °C) drop. Never exceed the maximum pressure on the tire sidewall.
